It's not as if we didn't see this coming though. |

Edited by: Frenden Dax on 26/06/2009 01:16:50 All debate aside about what Mana should do or whether or not he is a scammer... this shows why DBANK is an unsafe investment. It developed (devolved?) into a one-man show, and now when that one man is MIA, the fecal matter has impacted the ventilation system. This is one of the reasons I never put a cent into DBANK, despite the nice interest rates for CDs - I am old enough to remember Fury Bank, and how when FL disappeared the entire bank collapsed.
By contrast, EBANK through delegation and risk management has created a system in which no single individual (even the founder and CEO) is absolutely crucial to bank operations. If by some miracle DBANK crawls its way back to functionality, Manalapan (because he seems to be the sole 'employee' of DBANK who can do more than post on the forums) should take notes from their example. |

look up what a scam is? then reply with the correct term! Dbank wasn't a scam it was just a failure and he just walked away from the problem. Lost interest and taken everyone money! So in all this wasn't a scam he just a failure!
There's no difference between a successful scam and a failed business. Both end with no money being given back to investors. The only difference is that one is begun with malign intent and the other isn't. |

Originally by: Insurgent540 Being a relative noob to Eve and the risks of banking, ALL of my reserve isk was deposited into DBank.
The "don't put all your eggs in one basket" principle is hardly unique to EVE.
Quote: Needless to say, once in the international press, we may see pressure being brought to bear on CCP by the likes of Interpol?
Nope. CCP carried out the terms of their agreement 100%. You paid them real money, they gave you a GTC, you turned said GTC into two PLEX. That's where CCP intervention stops; anything you do with your own stuff in-game (aside from selling it for real-world cash) is your affair. You chose to sell the plex and trust other players (!!!!) with the isk. Because they effectively stole the isk, you lose. Cold, dark universe and all that.
Quote: Failing that, then perhaps the only way to get a response would be the use of a well written story.
Yes, this will certainly produce results. Ricdic steals 200b from EBANK, sells it for real-world money, and the NY Times, Reuters, BBC, etc all write stories about it. Strange, I haven't seen CCP reimburse EBANK for their losses.
I don't want to attack you since I'm sure you are well-intentioned, but... EVE doesn't hold your hand. You're accountable for your decisions with in-game assets. If you want a game that forgives every mistake and holds your hand, try WoW.

Hahahahahahahahaha. Well, at least you are honest in assessing yourself as "obviously hopelessly Naive."

Indeed. That was not inappropriate at all. You'd think that the mods would have policing C&P and CAOD as their priorities, instead of preying on MD. While Shar can go over the top on occasion, neither of his posts in this case was 'inappropriate'.

Originally by: Ricdic Agreed, releasing personal information about your customers from DBANK is very poor form. A bit hypocritical if you remember the blasting you gave me for releasing info on Kyriak(spelling?)
Funny, I would think that stealing from your customers would be very poor form too.

Originally by: Venkul Mul When someone menace to reveal a RL owner of a account to his work partners and to pay them isk to harass him at work it become a serious matter.
How is that a serious matter? Don't make mountains out of molehills, guy. This isn't an opportunity to beat on Shar after Applebabe decided to censor him for reasons that may or may not be justified. I'm with Packtu'sa, you need to sit back and figure out the difference between 'serious matters' and 'paying someone the amount they lost in DBANK in order to get them to laugh at a co-worker whose identity in an internet game they may already know anyways'.
It's not exactly as if Shar is threatening to reveal a deep-cover CIA operative here. Worst case scenario, the guy's co-workers (who obviously also play EVE) find out that their buddy plays the same game they do. That's hardly end-of-the-world stuff.
